The Survivalist Series by A. American

The Survivalist Series starts out with one man, Morgan Carter forced to walk home after an EMP strike. His walk of 250 miles takes his through a series of challenges and he meets a few new friends along the way. The series wraps around the community Morgan built, including his family, friends, soldiers and even outsiders. The DHS is cast as an evil entity in the story and much of the fighting is between Morgan and the DHS and The military against DHS. There are raiders in cahoots with the DHS as well as many desperate and hungry people willing to kill for a meal.

Home Coming – Audiobook Review

I really liked "Home Coming" and thought it a fitting end to an excellent book series. I noticed on Good Reads that many readers were disappointed to see The Survivalist Series come to a close but I think it was time. It has been close to a year since Morgan's 250-mile hike home after the EMP strike and a lifetime of things happened in that year but they've come a long way. Finally, after book ten, we can imagine a somewhat peaceful life for Morgan and the community. Without giving away the story, the end of the book really brings things home. Almost like a homecoming. ;)

Conflicted Home – Audiobook Review

Before they can even bring an end to the DHS threat, Morgan, Sarge and the rest have to come to terms with a new enemy - or enemies. The Russians. The Chinese. The Cubans. The Chinese hit Mac Dill Air Force base with a nuclear strike. Is there a chance of nuclear fallout? With Russian pathfinder units and Cuban soldiers on American soil, Sarge understands they're going to need more firepower to survive, especially after the run-in with armored attack vehicles. Sarge and Morgan will need to make a trip to get some well-needed supplies, food and guns from General Faucett. They come back with a lot of food and gear but also find some tragic fighting shortly after their arrival - with deadly results.

Home Invasion – Audiobook Review

In 'Home Invasion', book eight, things are looking up in the small central Florida community. The DHS and the local thugs are gone. The farm is proving to truly be a community affair and the market is active with traders every day. There may even be the possibility of power in the near future if those engineers don't find too many problems at the power plant. Is the worst now behind them? Maybe, but what about the Russians? The Chinese? Could Cuban troops be invading Florida? So many questions, so much danger. You know Morgan is up for the challenge. Especially with friends like Sarge that has his back.

Enforcing Home – Audiobook Review

Morgan is no stranger to adversity, it is the before that truly disturbs him. The Final Day Review – Audiobook

The Final Day is the last of the three-book John Matherson series. In this final installment, in the form of a twelve+ hour audiobook (349 pages on Kindle), the author expertly unwinds everything that has happened up until to reveal a clear and shockingly corrupt picture.

Resurrecting Home – Audiobook Review

Resurrecting Home takes us into the halfway point of The Survivalist Series. Book five of a ten book series, A. American understood the dangers of the story losing traction and becoming stale. It seems he took great care in keeping the story moving at an interesting pace while staying true to relationships built and introducing new people and challenges into the mix.

Forsaking Home – Audiobook Review

Forsaking Home is book number four of The survivalist Series. The EMP attack has the County in a vulnerable spot and the DHS is fully taking advantage of that. They may have had a hand in the attack. They are now the enemy. Just when you think the government can't get any worse, they go and stick Jess in a cold dark cell. Morgan has his hand's full at their new home after they had to bugout. Sarge, with the support of what's left of the military, is ready to show the DHS that there are still people ready, willing and capable of fighting back.

Escaping Home – Audiobook Review

In Escaping Home, Morgan survives a 250-mile walk home in book one only to bug-out in book three. That sits just fine for me because there's action in movement. Escaping Home is loaded with action both good and bad. Morgan, with the help of Thad, Danny and even Sarge, begin moving things to their new home. Jess is stuck in the FEMA camp, basically as a prisoner. She makes a few friends in the camp but is having a tough time conforming and making some powerful enemies.
